Until the last 50 years, having dads at the birth of a child was pretty much unheard of. Now, you are expected to be there. We don't presume that you will know what to do, or love being there. In fact, we believe that a little bit of preparation makes all the difference between a scary, unpleasant experience and an amazing, empowering experience. You have a specific and necessary role as the birthing partner. We will give you clarity about what you can do to help create a rewarding experience for you, your partner and your baby. It really does make a difference to your partner's experience. This is how kathy, a first time mum put it "He was brilliant. I was very glad it was a partnership. He talked me through every contraction. It felt in tune with what my body was doing."
As one dad put it: " For me it showed that the birthing partner is certainly not a spectator and has a very real and important role to play. As a husband it provided me with a real purpose that was both appreciated and rewarding in an event that the husband is usually obsolete! "
